A question I get asked a lot is, “how long have you been an artist?” That question is difficult to answer because I don't remember a time when I didn't make art. Almost everyone starts out as an artist; children start coloring and making images as soon as they can get their fingers around a crayon, but for some reason most people stop somewhere along the way.

I'm just a kid who never stopped. My passion for art has been a life-long pursuit: I remember coloring on the wall at 3 years old. At 5 I traced Superman and Batman comics. When I was 10 I would sneak out of bed after my parents were asleep and quietly draw pictures of Dracula and Frankenstein's Monster from my Scholastic “How to Draw Monsters” book. By the time I was 13 it was clear that whatever I did with my life, art would be a major part of it. In 2001, I received my BFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design. I worked in digital illustration for over a decade while also exploring traditional media, especially oil paint, on the side. Portraiture captivated me the most, especially the works of John Singer Sargent.

I started giving private art lessons in 2014 and quickly fell in love with teaching. Since then I've continued with private lessons both online and in person, and have taught classes as small as two and has large as 30 on a wide range of art-related topics.
